ITT, irony, karma & poetic justice.
I agree that CCP must end this madness. I vote that we kill local chat in 0.0 so that we can all be Monkeyspheres \o/.
Local chat should not be a source of intel, much less one that can be used for bot automation like warp & cloak or logoffski - which the botters actually admit to in this thread.
0.0 immunity = wrong. I just wish it didn't take Monkeysphere's crazy ingenuity, skills & efforts to pull it off ; what he does should be the standard rule in 0.0.

Do we just turn a blind eye and let a few players play god-mode and decide who deserves to be exploited on and who doesn't?
Until you have proof that Monkey's actions are anything but careful preparation, skills and ingenuity, please refrain for crying haxsploit. On the contrary, so far in this thread the only admittance of wrongdoing comes from macroers who freely admit to using botting software.
Which leads me, ironically, to the god-mode you speak of. 0.0 was never meant to be risk-free, and bots scanning local chat for unwanted presence, and subsequently automating warp & cloak or logoff, ARE in fact god-mode.
But this phenomena isn't limited to bots. Players relying on local chat to warp & cloak or logoff at the first sign of an unfamiliar or hostile face in local are in fact evading the risk inherent to 0.0, and that should not be happening.
Hence, local must go. And until then, I am thankful for Monkey's action as some sort of masked bringer of awesum justice to deal with the evil risk-free leeches of 0.0. Yeah, Monkey = Batman.

Hmm no, it just proves you're a lazy **** who wants to leech off others' smart ideas, or a dumbass who's unable to come up with ideas of his own.

Hell, I'd be all for it. As long as they can't rely on local to automate their ****, that's all I'm asking. Knowing that no-one shows in local, I'll still be probing for their ass.
Kill local. Please.

I asked it 5 times in this thread... no local in 0.0 will be more realistic! But as i know ccp don't want to do it
And yet it'd be a quick and universal fix to the current problem. v0v go figure.

We will return to our normally scheduled discussion after this commercial break.
This thread is brought to you by DamnCheaters.com, for all your botting needs, and by CNC Mining, "EVE macros on steroids" for the greedy but lazy miner in you.
We are now going back to the discussion in progress. Thank you.

Edited by: Razor Jaxx on 28/04/2010 15:05:25 I think we all agree that this thread wouldn't even exist if local chat couldn't be abused as a source of hostile detection, as there would be no need for special steps to evade local detection.
It took me all of 5 minutes, using Google(tm), to find an NPCing bot whose features are, and I quote :
"One of the most important features is itĘs ability to monitor and understand the local channel. When a hostile enters the system, *********** will automatically warp your ship to a safe spot, get cloaked and wait for local to become safe again. Once local is safe ********* will wait for a preconfigured amount of time and then continue ratting as before."
So now that the local fix is in place, I'm very eager to know what are CCP's plans to deal with this, as it is obviously, to me, an exploit of the local channel.
I am at the GMs/devs service if they need links etc. to the quote above.
Edit : bot name hidden
